Google Cloud has confirmed that it has acquired Siemplify, an Israel-based cybersecurity startup that specialises in end-to-end security services for enterprises, typically referred to as security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) services.
Founded in 2015, Siemplify was born out of the need for a better, simpler, more effective way to manage security operations, according to the company.
Siemplify allows Security Operation Center analysts to manage their operations from end-to-end, respond to cyber threats with speed and precision, and get smarter with every analyst interaction. The technology also helps improve SOC performance by reducing caseloads, raising analyst productivity, and creating better visibility across workflows.
An opportunity to grow business to meet new challenges
The demand for the Siemplify Security Operations Platform has increased due to the need for faster and more effective incident response amid a growing cybersecurity skills shortage. As cyberattacks are rapidly growing in both frequency and sophistication, Google says ‘there’s never been a better time to bring these two companies together’.
“Today, the Siemplify platform is trusted by many of the world’s leading security teams, from Fortune 500 companies to world-class MSSPs. The challenges we set out to solve are only becoming more profound, and organisations are facing an unprecedented volume of cybersecurity threats – all as the shortage of skilled personnel to address these threats remains at an all-time high. There is a need and opportunity to grow our business to meet these challenges,” said Amos Stern, co-founder of Siemplify.
Helping enterprises modernise their security
Chronicle was born in 2016 as a project within X, Alphabet’s moonshot factory, which then migrated to Google Cloud in 2019. It was designed for cyber security telemetry, specifically to track the movement of data across all devices and networks in a bid to prevent breaches.
“We plan to invest in SOAR capabilities with Siemplify’s cloud services as our foundation and the team’s talent leading the way. Our intention is to integrate Siemplify’s capabilities into Chronicle in ways that help enterprises modernise and automate their security operations,” Sunil Potti, VP/GM, Google Cloud Security.
