Ooredoo, Siemens, and Microsoft Come into an IoT Collaboration

Ooredoo Qatar, a leading one-stop national provider of ICT, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Siemens and Microsoft, at a signing ceremony at the Smart City Expo at Msheireb Downtown.

The objective of this MoU is to develop digital, Internet of Things (IoT) and software analytics solutions and related use cases by leveraging the expertise and technologies of the signatories. These will be used to serve smart infrastructure applications in different market segments, typically in cities, buildings, utilities and industries.

“The development of smart cities is a key priority for the state of Qatar and the advancement of the country’s digital economy in general. Once again, Ooredoo is partnering with the best global players to deliver the best for the country. Entering this strategic partnership between the three parties shows how we aim to be one of the best ICT players in the country, and underlines our commitment to our country’s development and the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. Our efforts are focused on enabling digitalisation through our smart connectivity offering, and we look forward to collaborating with Microsoft and Siemens to develop more IoT use cases for critical industries across Qatar.”

A number of solutions will be developed through the collaboration between the three entities, leveraging IoT, cloud computing, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, edge and blockchain, as well as other innovations and cutting-edge technologies.

Through these solutions, the entities aim to accelerate progress towards achieving the Smart Qatar vision, realising the promise of digital transformation to improve infrastructure, enrich citizens and residents’ lives, enhance government services, improve accessibility, drive sustainability and accelerate economic development.

Possible use cases include smart meter analytics, smart street lighting, smart buildings, hospitals, offices and campuses, electric vehicle charger connectivity and Cloud Management platforms. This is in line with the aim of building a smarter Qatar by bringing the best in-class technologies.
